Welcome to hope

About us

A shopping centre in East Oxford is not where many people expect to find a church but it’s exactly where we want to be.

In starting Hope Vineyard we never wanted to replicate the wonderful expressions of church that already exist in the city. We felt God inviting us into the new thing he was doing. A church that meets people where they are rather than expecting them to cross cultural barriers and come to us. The streets and the marketplace are exactly the kinds of places where Jesus taught, healed and invited people into God’s kingdom adventure. He empowered his apprentices to ‘go’ and make disciples (Matthew 28:19) and we’re doing all we can to respond to his commission.

Currently we gather on Sundays in Cowley but we are not a church solely for this area. As we grow we’d love to see these same values expressed in different ways across the city and the Oxford region.

If this sparks your interest then we’d love to hear from you, regardless of your background or any previous experience of faith and/or church.

This video was recorded in 2019 as we moved into our first unit in Templars Sq. We’ve since moved and the opportunities have developed. You can now find us in the unit previously owned by W H Smith Unit, which is between Poundland and Superdrug, Our address is

Hope Oxford, Unit 4, The Square, Templars Square Shopping Centre, Cowley, Oxford, OX4 3XD.

It’s been an adventure, and if you’d like to explore joining us for the ride, then pop in and visit, or drop us an e-mail and get in touch (hello@hopeoxford.org).

Our Vision

” We are a new Christian Church, passionate about every community within and around Oxford experiencing God’s transforming love and power as people come into contact with inspired apprentices of Jesus. “

vineyard Churches (VCUKI)

Hope Vineyard is part of the movement of Vineyard Churches (Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland – VCUKI), and was planted out of Trent Vineyard, Nottingham in 2017.

Vineyard Churches, are part of the wider Christian church family. The name Vineyard comes from a Biblical symbol, used to describe God’s ongoing care for His people.

Hope Vineyard Oxford also belongs to the Love Oxford network of churches, and we are members of the Evangelical Alliance.

As well as being a church, we are also a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), overseen by a Board of Trustees and registered with the Charity Commission (Charity No 1173765).
